The Paediatric Sleep and Respiratory Care Clinic in Cork City provides paediatric medicine and respiratory care to children from Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Kilkenny and beyond. Our specialised sleep service accepts referrals for sleep studies from all over Ireland. We provide inpatient and outpatient care for children with breathing difficulties, sleep complaints, and general paediatric issues from birth to 16 years of age.
Dr Gavin Stone is a consultant in paediatric respiratory and sleep medicine with extensive experience in managing a wide range of breathing complaints in infants, children and adolescents. He works with a team of respiratory physiologists who are experienced in performing pulmonary function testing and sleep studies for children.

Our general and specialised paediatric services
Doctors refer children to us for specialist paediatric care from birth to 16 years old. We deal with all the usual childhood problems, as well as respiratory and sleep medicine. As part of the Bons Secours Hospital Cork, Dr. Stone works with a team of consultants. They have expertise in gastroenterology, allergy, neurology, endocrinology, and nephrology. Therefore, if your child’s problem is best suited to another consultant’s specialist service, we will redirect you to the right consultant for your child’s needs.
Our paediatric practice covers:
Respiratory Medicine
We look at breathing and lung problems including asthma, persistent coughs, chest infections, and sleep-related breathing difficulties.
Sleep Medicine
Investigating pauses in breathing during sleep, poor quality sleep, restless leg movements, frequent nighttime wakings, snoring, and sleep apnoea.
General Paediatrics
Covering overall health and development from birth to 16 years, including common childhood problems, illnesses, and infections.

Our practice is based in Cork and affiliated with the Bon Secours Hospital. Dr Gavin Stone, MB BCh BAO (Hons), FPAED, DTM&H, PDipHSc, PDip Sleep Med (Oxon), ES is a paediatric sleep specialist, paediatric respiratory consultant, and a general paediatrician.
Dr. Stone brings a patient-centred approach to respiratory care. He believes in clear communication to empower both children and their caregivers to actively participate in making the right decisions for their circumstances.

Working closely with experienced and accredited paediatric respiratory physiologists and other specialists, Dr Stone can build up a detailed picture of issues the children he treats are dealing with.
Getting a referral to a consultant paediatrician in Cork
We don’t have waiting lists as long as your arm.
Provided you have the right private medical care in place, we should be able to see your child relatively quickly, regardless of where you live in Ireland.
We can offer online consultations where necessary and appropriate.
Sleep studies can currently only be undertaken in Cork, but if you need to travel to see us, we can coordinate appointments with sleep studies.

Once your child is under our care we can also arrange for them to be admitted for acute medical care, should that be necessary. Bon Secours Hospital, Cork is the only private hospital in Ireland with 24-hour inpatient consultant-paediatrician cover.
