At our paediatric clinic in Cork, we deal with children of all ages, from premature babies and newborns, through childhood and into adolescence. We understand how difficult dealing with a poorly child can be. We know you need answers and a plan of action, and that’s what we aim to provide.

If you think your baby or child is having problems that need a specialist opinion, it’s a good idea to have them seen before they can become more serious or lead to others. Your GP will be able to discuss with you what referrals are appropriate for Dr Stone’s clinic.

Diagnosing and treating general paediatric problems

A consultant paediatrician has the opportunity and expertise to dig deep into the signs and symptoms of disease or issues your child is having. We can put together a full picture of what is really going on with your child’s health.

 We use diagnostic tests to give us more data to work with rather than relying on guesswork. With the excellent testing facilities Bon Secours Hospital Cork provides, we have access to some of the best private diagnostics facilities available in Ireland.

Dr Stone can also admit children under his care to the hospital’s paediatric should they need acute medical care. The hospital has 24-hour consultant paediatrician cover and is the only private hospital with this in the country.

A private paediatric consultant with a paediatric clinic in Cork

Dr Stone works with a team of highly experienced professionals, used to working with babies and children of all ages and backgrounds, from birth to 16 years old.

As a consultant paediatrician with a specialist interest in respiratory and sleep medicine, Dr Stone can deal with all paediatric problems. His team includes a senior paediatric respiratory physiologist, a senior paediatric speech and language therapist, and an advanced nurse practitioner.

If, however, we feel your child would benefit from seeing a different consultant for more specialist advice, we will refer you on. A: When you book an appointment with us, we will give you all the information you need to know, but we always aim to provide a relaxed, friendly, and supportive environment. If your child is likely to need any tests at the first appointment, we will tell you what these are likely to involve and what to expect. Please bring any medications, inhalers, and spacers your child uses. If they attend another medical specialist, please let us know in advance so we can request copies of their medical records. Videos of abnormal respiratory noises or breathing concerns during sleep are also very helpful.
